This digitized portfolio of protest posters were created in the United States, in the late 1960s. Selected from an exhibition at the University Art Museum of the University of California, Berkeley, these unsigned posters represent contributors to the peace movement, rather than the intent of individual artists. Students from a number of different Northern California school created these works and financed the publication of these images as part of the cause of the peace movement.
Originally printed by Western Star Press of Kentfield, California, copyright to these works has been held since 1970 by Students for Peace, with the qualifying statement:
"Permission is granted to copy these posters, or to reproduce them in any way that wift assist in the cause of peace. Whoever uses them in any other way will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
We make this folio available to students and scholars of Vietnam War studies, so that the rich spirit of collaboration and solidarity of the 1960s may be acessible and influential. Please explore the images by clicking on the thumbnails to the right.
