The Department of English adheres to the values of St. John Baptist de La Salle when he founded the Christian Brothers in 17th century France: excellence in teaching, dedication to career preparation, devotion to the well-being of each individual student, and personal advisement. We have been a proud participant in that tradition since 1863. At La Salle, English students are never just numbers, but unique personalities with different needs, ambitions, and goals.
The English faculty at La Salle includes the authors of numerous scholarly articles and books, a producer of professional theatre, and winners of the prestigious Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching. Our consistently high teaching evaluations year after year attest to the faculty’s dedication to the art of teaching.
Students enrolling in the MA Program can choose one of two closely related tracks: the MA in English for Educators and the MA in English in Literary and Cultural Studies.
