Dr. Anne Mc Grorty, Assistant Professor of Nursing, earned her BSN and MSN from Gwynedd Mercy and her DNP from La Salle , where she joined its faculty in 2007. Her areas of expertise are pediatric nursing, school health, childhood obesity, and developmental pediatrics. Shortly after arriving at La Salle she created the Nursing Career Forum, providing students an opportunity to interact with community nursing leaders as they prepare for the interview process. Prior to joining the faculty she held positions as a nurse practitioner in several specialty areas including inpatient, outpatient, short procedure, and emergency room. As a pediatric nurse practitioner, she continues to excel in primary care and develop creative solutions to pediatric health issues. More recently to complete her doctoral capstone, she developed an evidence-based teaching plan that will inform an online communication intervention for obese children. She was voted “Top Doc 2010” by her patients who shared her dedication with a local children’s magazine.

At La Salle, she has dedicated her time to multi-sensory teaching styles that enhance the learning experience. Dr. Mc Grorty has improved the clinical immersion experience through simulation and unfolding case studies, later posted to the Quality in Nursing Education Website. She has a special interest in improving clinical experiences by expanding pediatric clinical opportunities at two children’s’ hospitals in Philadelphia. In addition, she provides clinical opportunities to nurse practitioner students completing their pediatric clinical hours. She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, The Academy of Pediatrics, Sigma Theta Tau, and The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She shares her passion for pediatrics and empowers her students “to care for other peoples’ children the way that you want your own children cared for.” Her favorite quote is one from Benjamin Franklin: “Energy and persistence conquers all.” In her free time she enjoys travelling, relaxing on the beach, swimming laps, and spending time with her husband and three children, whom she describes as her “greatest gift.”
