Office of the President: Brother Michael McGinniss, F.S.C.

May 21, 2013

Dear Friends:

Photo of Brother Michael J. McGinniss, F.S.C., Ph.D.It has been a great honor to serve as President of La Salle University during the past 14 years. My years as President have been some of the most rewarding of my life. I am very proud of the initiatives completed during my tenure which have benefitted our students, faculty, alumni and the surrounding community. With a strong foundation set for the future growth of the University, it is a good time to transition this work to a new President. So, after much discernment, I have decided to step down as President effective May 31, 2014. A Presidential search committee is in the process of being formed and their work will commence early this summer.

I have spent a lot of time lately thinking about my time at La Salle. It has been gratifying to see such development in our academic offerings, in our campus, in our relationships with our local community, and of course, in our students. In addition, it is comforting to know that no matter how much La Salle changes, it remains the same.

We continue to be inspired by St. John Baptist de La Salle, the founder of the Christian Brothers and the patron saint of teachers. We continue to be shaped by Catholic and Lasallian values. We remain dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning, personal attention, a sense of community and a global perspective. That is what La Salle has been and will continue to be all about.

I am privileged to have had the opportunity to work in partnership with a dedicated Board of Trustees, the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Council of President’s Associates who have worked tirelessly to advance the mission of the University. They are vital to our success today and into the future.

My heartfelt admiration goes out to the faculty, staff and my fellow Christian Brothers who everyday maintain the Lasallian tradition of education by preparing our students for a lifetime of personal development, service and success.

And finally, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to lead and teach such remarkable young men and women over the years.

I have agreed to stay on as President until my current term ends May 31, 2014 and will look forward to the next chapter, whatever that may be. I remain grateful for your kind and generous support and ask for your continued partnership as we work together to advance the mission of the University.

Brother Michael
