Academic Technology Steering Committee
Minutes of the February 19, 2004 Meeting

Members present: John Baky, Sabrina DeTurk, Joan Frizzell, Steve Longo, Dave Munchak, Ed Nickerson, Jo Anne Snarponis, Jack Sweeder

Guest: Regina Hierholzer

The committee invited Regina Hierholzer, of the Web Development Team in University Communications, to assist the group in designing a Web site/page that would offer a convenient, accessible location for information about technology services at La Salle.

After some brainstorming, the group arrived at a list of the types of information they would like to see included on such a page:

• network access
• classroom facilities and reservations
• ResNet
• what computer students should bring to campus
• off-campus/commuter computing issues
• what platforms are supported
• what is available through multimedia services
• WebCT/online teaching
• contact info for IT staff
• computer labs
• telephone services
• virus info/security
• plug-ins/browser issues
• wireless
• training opportunities
• systems at La Salle

It was agreed that Sabrina DeTurk would work with Regina on a draft version of this page/site for the committee to review.

The committee also requested that Regina approach Joe Donovan and Joe Biondo with a request to make the search feature more prominently displayed and accessible on the La Salle Web site.

The committee discussed future agenda items and decided to cover three more topics this semester: WebCT, wireless, and e-portfolios. Judy Stull will be invited as a guest to the next meeting to discuss online learning and WebCT.
