The office of the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences is a resource center for all students enrolled in the school. General questions about academic policies and procedures are handled by staff at the reception desk.
On the undergraduate level, matters that require individual attention or confidentiality are referred to one of the school’s two assistant deans. In addition to advising many undecided and new transfer students, they evaluate AP credits and college transcripts, validate students for graduation, approve summer school classes, and advise students on probation or suspension.
The office also provides assistance when students withdraw from a class or the university, change or add a major or minor, experience health or personal issues requiring them to miss class, or require referrals for counseling or other services.
