Loyola Marymount University/Ethical Compliance Officers’ Association Intercollegiate Business Ethics Case Competition (undergraduate)

Loyola Marymount University logoOur undergraduate team competing in Los Angeles in September marked our 4th year participating in the LMU/ECOA competition. An on-campus competition determines the team that will represent La Salle at the competition, held in conjunction with the ECOA’s annual meeting.

This competition differs in that each team selects a topic from any area of business ethics and describes both the problem and solution to a panel of judges, analyzing the legal, financial and ethical dimensions of the case. The competition provides an environment for discussing issues related to the necessity, difficulty, costs and rewards of conducting business ethically. Recognizing the special challenges connected with discussing ethical issues in a diverse global economy, teams are encouraged to present a secular and philosophical approach to these matters. Top teams from the graduate and undergraduate divisions face off in a final round, with winning teams and runners-up receive cash prizes. Judging is based on how well the team’s presentation included the legal, financial/business and ethical dimensions of their issue.
