An Experience on Teamwork
Joseph Seltzer, Ph.D.

In today's organizations, many people work as part of a team, yet have little understanding of how to help make that team more effective. Indeed some individuals prefer not to be part of a team because of previous bad experiences; such has having a team member who doesn't do their fair share of the work. In this session the presenter explored how can teams improve their performance.

This session included:
- A brief theoretical introduction
- Active involvement in an experiential activity
- A wrap-up discussion to put the activity into perspective in a real work situation

Lynne A. Texter, Ph.D.
Jenepher Lennox Terrion, Ph.D.

Effective communication is the primary factor in the success of organizational initiatives and in career advancement.

Yet, communication is also one of the most neglected skills in the workplace. We're all confident that we're communicating effectively and that it is the fault of others when our ideas aren't accepted, jobs aren't completed properly, and organizational initiatives fail.

This session was an interactive workshop. The presenter guided the participants to explore communication styles and improve abilities to communicate for results. The focus was on communication skills and strategies, including how to overcome resistance from superiors, peers, and subordinates. Specific skills and strategies were addressed to develop and increase effectiveness.
