Through the core curriculum, our students learn to link the past with the present, as they acquire the tools they need to create and define their futures.
Offering sustained study in a broad range of disciplines, the Core Curriculum falls under the umbrella of the School of Arts and Sciences and provides students from around the University with an opportunity to build a strong educational foundation for the future. As such, the Core Curriculum clusters requirements into areas defined by educational objectives.
POWERS refers to competencies that enable students to learn, to think, and to communicate.
FRAMEWORKS of Scientific Understanding refers to concepts and methods learned in courses in the natural and social sciences.
PATTERNS of Meaning refers to a set of capacities that students must acquire to engage the moral, aesthetic, and spiritual significance of human events and achievements.
There are department and school restrictions associated with some of these requirements. Please consult your academic department for appropriate course selection.
