Religion Professor and Department Chair Geffrey B. Kelly received the Bishop John J. McCort Award from the Alumni Association of West Catholic High School. The award is named after the bishop who, more than anyone, is credited for bringing the De La Salle Christian brothers to assume the direction of West Catholic High School in 1926.
The award is not necessarily given to an alumnus of the high school.
Dr. Kelly was honored for his scholarship and publications in the field of religion, ethics and Christian spirituality. A 1954 graduate of La Salle University, Kelly has been a member of the faculty at the university for more than 30 years and is a recipient of the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching.
