Michael Sielski, '97 won first place in the annual journalism contest of the Keystone Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Mike won in the category of sports reporting in a daily newspaper. This contest is open to all newspapers in Pennsylvania.
His work was "a three-day series on a tragic accident and how it changed forever the life of an in-line skater." The award was given at the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association's annual conference in State College, PA.
Sielski was the student speaker at the 1997 Commencement at La Salle. He later earned his M.A. at Columbia and taught courses in the Communication Department before moving on to the Allentown Call. He is now with a small chain of newspapers in the Philadelphia area.
