Milestone: First Class Completes La Salle COM Degree Abroad
At the commencement ceremonies of University of New York, Prague, on June 20, six students received their master degrees from La Salle University. Comprised of students from various Eastern European countries, this graduating group is the first class to complete the program in Professional Communication and Public Relations. This is also the first time in the history of the University that students have earned a La Salle degree while completing their course work outside the United States.

Representing La Salle as the new director of the program, Brother Gerry Molyneaux, F.S.C. addressed the graduating class at UNYP and conferred the diplomas on the La Salle students. The main address was delivered by William J. Cabaniss, United Sates Ambassador to the Czech Republic.

In a wonderful instance of serendipity, the winner of the award for the outstanding teacher in the undergraduate program at UNYP was Michael Johnson, a member of the Psychology Department faculty and himself a 1991 graduate of La Salle.

In 1994, Michael received his master's degree in Experimental Psycholinguistics from the University of California at Santa Cruz. In addition to teaching, Mike is also Chief Operating Officer at tyrIRIS s.r.o., an international software distribution company in Prague.

Michael sends his special regard to his mentor Brother Joseph Burke, F.S.C. at La Salle.
