Most citizens think of James Madison and Alexander Hamilton as the fathers of American Constitutionalism, but George Washington also helped shape the Constitution. On September 16th, History Department faculty member, Dr. Stuart Leibiger will deliver a talk that will explore Washington's constitutional thought, paying special attention to the role he played in scheduling the 1787 Federal Convention, in presiding over the Convention, in waging the ratification campaign, and in breathing life into the Constitution as first president.
