Denise M. Maida, Psy.D. and Sharon Lee Armstrong, Ph.D. of the Psychology Department just had an article published, The Classification of Muscle Dysmorphia, in the Spring 2005 issue of the International Journal of Men’s Health.

This work, based upon Dr. Maida’s dissertation, examined a little known affliction found primarily in men in which they have a preoccupation with muscularity to the point of compromising their jobs and relationships. The authors’ research suggests that Muscle Dysmorphia should be classified as an OCD spectrum disorder.
