News from the Communication Department
  • Junior Christian Lewis is getting some valuable experience this summer with the Environmental Protection Agency in Atlanta in their Office of External Affairs, working in the media relations branch. In 2003 and 2004, thanks to La Salle alum John Donohue, '80, Chris had gotten professional experience with the ESPN telecasts of Phillies games. He also is a regular contributor to channel 56.
  • La Salle Covers La Salle! COM alum Albert "Scooter" Vertino, '92, producer for NBA games on Turner Sports, and winner of two Emmy's, recently produced the an NBA game where another La Salle COM alum, Rasual Butler scored 12 points for the Miami Heat. The game was broadcast nationally.
  • Hamlet Bistro, which features Chef Raul Schmalzbach, 02, was recently showcased in the Philadelphia Inquirer's Table Talk, with Michael Klein.
  • Ed Mahon, a recent communication major and an editor at "The Collegian," will be doing an internship with the office of news and public affairs at the University of Pennsylvania medical center. \
  • First Father-Son Communication Combination! Christopher Dougherty, class of 2009, will be attending La Salle University this fall as a Communication major. Chris' dad, Joseph Dougherty, 82, was also a Communication major at La Salle. Chris will be a third generation Lasallian in the Dougherty family.
