La Salle Chem Alums Connect in Research
Robert Levis, '84,is now Professor, Chair of the Chemistry Department and Director of the Center for Advanced Photonics Research at Temple University. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration recently awarded Professor Levis a one-year, $1.25 million grant to develop cyclic ozone. His work was recently highlighted in the March 7 issue of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Matthew Coghlan and John Brady, both chemistry majors from the class of 2004, are currently graduate students in the Levis research group.
Chemistry Students Accepted to Prestigious Summer Research Programs!
- Katharine Prokop, a junior chemistry major and a member of the Lacrosse team has been accepted to the REU program at University of Virginia.
- Louis Mattioli, also a junior chemistry major has been accepted to the summer Research Experience for Undergraduates in Chemical Biology at Purdue University.
The National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program provides summer stipends to do research at other universities. The universities use this program to recruit their future graduate students.

- Thomas Maguire has accepted an offer to attend the graduate program in chemistry at Texas A&M University.
- Erin McGuigan has accepted a job offer from the DuPont Co. in Wilmington Delaware.
