| < Back to Newsbyte Headlines | | Echan, Introduced by Philly Legend, Receives Merrill Award | Michael Echan, '05, a Communication major, was recently awarded the Harry Merrill Award for Collegiate Sportswriting. As a sports editor for the Collegian, Echan is the second Lasallian to receive this honor in its 21 years of existence.
Members of the Philadelphia Sports Writers' Association who sponsor the award recognized Echan for his achievements in sportswriting.
Echan states that he "was taken aback and flattered when [long-time Philadelphia sports broadcaster/voice of the Philadelphia Phillies] Harry Kalas introduced me to the crowd as the first award recepient of the night." |
