Three members of the Communication Department Board combined their efforts to produce a new brochure for the San Miguel School in Camden, NJ. Opened by the Christian Brothers in 1995 and staffed by Brothers and volunteers, the school serves economically challenged grade school students. Using a long school year and teaching day and loads of personal attention, the staff prepare the students to enter the best of the public high schools and private schools as well. Evidence of the program's success lies in the present enrollment of its alumni in schools such Camden County Vocational High School, the Hill School, Bishop Eustace Prep, and Camden Catholic. For support, the school relies on funding from the Brothers as well as corporate and private benefactors, thus the need for the brochure.
Aware of the economic situation, Richard Slinkard, '86, of Accent Com offered to create the design and layout of the piece. His pro bono work was then matched by that of Cusick Communication's Maria Tucker Cusick, '82, who provided the photography and a lot of good advice. With the brochure completed, Slinkard and Tucker looked for a printer to provide the finished product.. That's when Gregory Braun '86, stepped in and convinced his company, Today's Graphics, to publish the brochure.
San Miguel principal, Brother William Johnson is thrilled with the new brochure and ready to use it during the fund raising campaign in March. |
