Native-American Activist Addresses Religion Classes
Tina Pierce Fragoso, a member of the Nanticoke-Lenape tribe, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, addressed several religion classes in the Music Room of the Union Building, on Wednesday, September 27. The presentation began with prayer, ritual purification, and simple dancing. Tina debunked stereotypes about American Indians, explained legal triumphs for native peoples over the last 40 years, and outlined ways in which Indian identity is still challenged.
