Grace & Grit Scholarship Award | Lora Klein, a junior social work major, was recently awarded the Sister Ruth Mahar, D.C. Grace & Grit Scholarship Award for 2006 at the annual luncheon to honor Field Supervisors in the Social Work Program. The Sister Ruth Mahar scholarship recognizes academic achievement and the special demands upon a student who is a single parent. Lora has maintained a 3.9 gpa at La Salle University, and has completed a field placement at Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Bucks County.
The award is named for Sister Ruth Mahar, a long-time resident of Germantown, who is seen as someone embodying the values of social work in recognizing the dignity and worth of every individual. The Social Work Program Professional Advisory Board supports the award and makes the selection of the award winner annually. |
