Communication Alums Share Valuable Advice and Experience
On Tuesday, October 10, The Communication Department held their third annual Communication Career Night. Over 200 students gathered in the Dan Rodden Theatre to listen to various alums talk about getting a job after college. In particular 18 eager alums from various graduating classes, ranging from 1988 to 2005, and various career paths came together to spread several key messages: intern, network, get involved on and off campus and work hard. Students broke off into groups based on their tracks and listened to a panel discussion of Communication alums who described their current jobs and what it took to get where they are today. They also gave advice on topics like internships, interviewing and resumes. Communication Career Night successfully brought professional alumni and current students together to discuss the exciting pathways that a communication degree can bring.
