Barbara Allen of the History Department presented a paper, "Alexander Shliapnikov and the Early New Economic Policy in Russia, 1923-25," at the annual convention of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies in Washington, D.C, November 16-19, 2006.

In addition, Dr. Allenhas recently published two articles, "Unions, Professional" and "Rehabilitation," in the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Russian Culture (Routledge UK, 2006). Last spring, herreview essay of Kevin Murphy'sRevolution and Counterrevolution: Class Struggle in a Moscow Metal Factory (Berghahn Books, 2005) was posted on the web site H-Net: Humanities and Social Sciences Online and was redistributed by the International Association of Labor History Institutions news service.
