Barbara Allen Presents at Slavic Studies Conference
Dr. Barbara Allen, Assistant Professor of History, presented a paper on November 18 about Alexander Shliapnikov's 1933 purge from the Russian Communist Party as part of a panel at the annual convention of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies in New Orleans. The panel, entitled “Shattered Lives and the Quest for Biographical Coherence: Lives of Old Bolsheviks in Stalinist Russia," included scholars from universities in Paris, Hamburg, and Toronto.

Dr. Allen also recently published a review of Diane Koenker's Republic of Labor: Russian Printers and Soviet Socialism, 1918-1930 (Cornell Univ. Press, 2005) in Canadian-American Slavic Studies.
