La Salle Student “Leads” Philadelphia Orchestra
La Salle sophomore Chris Chamberlain was sitting in the front row for a Philadelphia Orchestra Concert “Access” performance when he was invited onstage. He was given a remote control and these instructions: when he would point to a section of the orchestra with the remote, that section would stop playing; the audience could then hear what different sections or musicians were doing. A Philosophy major, Chamberlain plays the guitar, and with his musical knowledge and understanding, hedecided to stop the orchestra every four bars. By the end of his "session," he hadstopped all but one of the instruments, then slowly brought back all of the sections. He was on stage for about 10 minutes.
