Dr. Bob Vogel's Leadership and Global Understanding students traveled to New Delhi and Bangalore to examine life in India through the windows of culture, economics, politics, religion and education. Specifically, the course examined India’s education system with emphasis placed on how India is preparing their youth to be competitive in the global community. Using Thomas Friedman's The World is Flat: A Brief History of the 21st Century and Howard's Gardner's recent work on Education and Globalization the class explored the many fascinating issues related to globalization. Much emphasis was placed on exploring how India is educating the next generation of Indian youth and what this means competitively for American students. |
