The conference was held at the Metropolitan State College of Denver on April 20-21, 2007 and was attended by scholars from the United States and other countries like Israel and Saudi Arabia. Conference panels were on: Markers of Identity, Engendering the Islamic World; The Place of Islam in the Turkic World; Muslims, Dress and Popular Modern Culture; Islam and Muslims: Economics, Education and Law in the 21st century, and Islam in Indonesia. Angeles is the president of the American Council for the Study of Islamic Societies. |
