La Salle Communication major Gabriella Scacidor, ’09, met with science writers from The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News in Manhattan on April 9 a part of the annual Merck Science Writing Journalism Awards Program. Sacidor, who has won a $1,000 scholarship from the program, is currently working on a La Salle 56 documentary about a Philadelphia woman recovering from a stroke. Sacidor was accompanied to the three-day science-writing seminar by her adviser for the project, Huntly Collins, Assistant Professor of Communication. The Merck Foundation sponsors the Awards Program, which is designed to encourage college students to enter the field of science journalism.
