| The National Science Foundation last month awarded a $75,000 Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program Planning Grant to La Salle to develop a proposal for the NSF Teaching Fellowships and Master Teaching Fellowships initiative. The initiative will focus on both recruiting science, technology, and mathematics (STEM or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professionals to enroll in a master’s degree program leading to teacher certification and preparing STEM teachers to become Master Teachers. Heading the initiative is Dr. Margaret McManus, Associate Dean of Arts and Science, along with Dr. Stefan Samulewicz, Assistant Professor of Biology and Dr. Harris Lewin, Director of Graduate Education. Other faculty participating in the initiative include Dr. Deborah Yost, Dr. Ling Liang, Dr. Greer Richardson, and Dr. George Roesser from the Education Department, Dr. Simon Moon from the Psychology Department, and Gregory Bruce, Dean Emeritus of the School of Business. Dr. Fred Foley and Gloria Pugliese from Advancement as well as F. Joseph Merlino, and Barbara Stankus from 21st Century P-STEM are also participating in the initiative. |
