Graduate Com. Students Hear Frank Vogt Describe Emergency Landing of Plane
“Mayday, mayday, losing altitude, oil pressure low.” These words crackled over the emergency radio frequency early on the morning of February 1 as Frank Vogt, ‘04, glided his plane safely to rest on the shoulder of the northbound New Jersey turnpike. Vogt, a former communication major, told his tale on March 14 to students enrolled in Com. 635, Feature Writing for Newsletters, taught by Huntly Collins, Assistant Professor of Communication. Vogt told students that he got through the ordeal by carefully adhering to the emergency procedures he rehearses every time he climbs into the pilot's seat. "I never once thought I was going to die," he said. Pictured is Vogt with students in Collins' Com. 635 class. (Photo courtesy of Tameka Flowers)
