| Christopher S. Palmer, a senior communication major with a concentration in journalism, was selected as one of 40 college journalists from across the country to attend a two-week fellowship at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. Palmer, a member of The Collegian staff, will be at Poynter May 16-28 to study ethical decision-making, developing sources, and finding focus. Along with other participants he will work in teams to tell untold stories from the city of St. Petersburg in multi-media format. “Chris has an intuitive nose for news,” said Huntly Collins, Assistant Professor of Communication, “He’s done a marvelous job at The Collegian in reporting the voices of people living in the neighborhoods surrounding La Salle.” Collins adds, “Poynter is a non-profit school dedicated to teaching and inspiring journalists and media leaders from around the world” and is “the country’s premier training program for professional journalists.” |
