Gallagher Co-Authors Book on Race in the New South
Dr. Charles Gallagher, Chair of the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice, has co-authored a collection of essays entitled Being Brown in Dixie: Race, Ethnicity, and Latino Immigration in the New South, which is being published the end of this month by FirstForumPress, a division of Lynne Rienner Publishers, Inc. The book consists of 13 essays plus an introduction, “Immigration, the New South and the Color of Backlash,” and a conclusion, “Southern Location, National Implications,”
written by Gallagher and his co-author, Cameron D. Lippard, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Appalachian State University.
