On Sunday, September 25, Dr. Kevin J. Harty, Professor and Chair of English, inaugurated the 2011-12 Film Festival at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church’s in Center City by introducing, screening, and leading a follow-up discussion of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s 1947 film Black Narcissus. According to Harty,”the film’s star, Deborah Kerr, used to attend services at St. Mark’s whenever she was appearing on the stage in Philadelphia.” Harty says that more films will follow in December, February, and April.
