During the Thanksgiving weekend, Dr. Kevin J. Harty, Professor and Chair of English, served on the national comprehensive oral examination board for associate professors, already holding the Ph.D. in English, who applied for any vacancies at the full professorial level that open up at French universities in 2012. Harty was the only American among the five members of the examination board who convened at the Université de Paris IV—the Sorbonne.
