Joan Sadoff, MSW, signed her new book, Pieces from the Past: Voices of Heroic Women in Civil Right at a recent Board meeting on campus. Her book follows her previous award-winning documentaryStanding on My Sisters' Shoulders, which is also about the role of women in the civil rights movement. Sadoff is the first recipient of the Social Work Department’s Heart of Gold Award, and previously was recognized by the National Association of Social Workers--Pennsylvania Chapter as the Social Worker of the Year.
