Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Thomas A. Keagy, Ph.D., leads the School in enhancing and delivering the curriculum, supporting faculty in their teaching, fostering scholarly development and research, and serving the students in their academic endeavors. Dean Keagy oversees the School's strategic planning efforts in the areas of undergraduate and graduate programming, staffing, curricula, and budget. He also teaches in the Mathematics Department.
Associate Dean, Margaret M. McManus, Ph.D., assists the dean in overseeing educational activity, represents the dean in the Dean’s absence, and assumes a leadership role in such areas as curricular, faculty and student development, academic affairs, and resource development. She participates in school initiatives, such as strategic planning and international programs, seeks to enhance science and technology in the school, assists in coordinating the school’s undergraduate and graduate programming and administration, and assists in budget and grant seeking processes. She also teaches in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department.
Assistant Deans, Sally Rooney, M.S. and Julie Valenti, M.A., troubleshoot a wide variety of matters for both faculty and students, and implement academic policy. They advise undecided and new transfer students; evaluate AP credits and college transcripts; validate students for graduation; approve summer school classes; process probation and suspension actions; and implement faculty development programs. Julie coordinates the High School Scholars program and advises students for study abroad, while Sally coordinates the School newsletter Explorer and serves as the School’s liaison for the web and alumni magazine.
Administrative Assistants, Michele Guy and Ana Flores, provide extensive support within the office, and regular communication with students, faculty, and internal and external visitors to the Office of the Dean. |
