Joanna Pietrus, ’00

Joanna majored in Economics and International Studies and spent her junior year studying in Switzerland. Her first job after graduation was with Bloomberg LP as a Data Analyst in the Mutual Fund Department. She then earned a Masters degree in International Affairs from American University of International Service in 2003. She now works as a Manager of Reporting and Analysis at Accor (hotel firm that owns a range of hotel chains from Sofitel to Motel 6) in New York City.

Her comments on Economics and the department include the following:

I greatly value my education at La Salle and would not substitute it with any Ivy  League education because I got a great education in my field. With the econ dept being so small at La Salle we each received such great individual attention. In my econometrics class, there were 5 people, and Dr. Paulin met with each one of us after class to go over more stuff. I would have never received that much attention and dedication anywhere else.

I liked all the faculty very much. I liked Dr. George's Christmas parties, and the BBQ. It was a great sense of community which was completely different from my grad school experience at American in DC.
