John Sadlowski, ’99, MBA ’03
John Sadlowski, an Economics major, held multiple and extremely valuable internship positions while at La Salle. He was a financial planner intern at Merrill Lynch; a consulting intern at Booz, Allen, and Hamilton; and a finance intern at the MIIX Insurance group. He acknowledges that since he secured an internship the summer after freshman year, he had a leg up on his peers in the subsequent years when it came to picking and choosing among the available opportunities. His experience proved fruitful, and by fall of his senior year, those experiences had developed into a handful of job offers.
Sadlowski values his college experience because unlike most students, he did not come out of school and into the business world having a set studied trade, such as accounting, to hold a job where he could put that trade into practice. His career path has been more varied. For him, Economics served as the foundation upon which he has built his career. He claims the discipline of economic reasoning developed the analytical and problem solving abilities he needed to be successful in a range of professional pursuits.
Sadlowski believes the size of the Economics department, coupled with its commitment to teaching, provides students an experience that is truly unique. He considers the faculty his friends and keeps in touch with them even after 9 years.
After graduating La Salle University, he landed his first job as a financial strategy consultant at Arthur Andersen. He also went on to obtain an MBA from La Salle University. He is currently working as a Gasoline Trader at Sunoco.
