Alec Stanley, ’04

Alec majored in Economics and interned at Towers Perrin (consulting) in Philadelphia while at La Salle.  Alec’s first job after graduation was with AON Consulting in Baltimore where he worked on pension valuations. He currently is a Senior Regulatory Analyst at NASD Market Regulation in Rockville, MD. He reviews applications to quote securities on the OTC Bulletin Board and Pink Sheets and investigates fraud in the OTC equities market.

Alec’s comments on Economics and the Department include the following:

Understanding how markets work is certainly a huge benefit in my current job. Also, things like interest theory, applied calculus, statistics, and even econometrics have helped enormously in the area of personal finance – retirement planning, money management, and portfolio theory.

The small classes definitely helped ensure that I knew the material and was able to apply it.

Paulin’s econometrics class has been surprisingly useful in my personal life. I couldn’t have done 5 factor regressions without it.
