News from the Education Department
The Education is pleased to announce some recent scholarship by our faculty members: Drs. Kristan Morrison, Maryanne Bednar, Jack Sweeder, Ling Liang, Greer Richardson and Ms. Donna Wake.

  • Dr. Kristan Morrison recently had an article entitled "Do Free Schools Promote Chaos: A Study of the Albany Free School" published in the Spring 2005 issue of the journal Encounter: Education for Meaning and Social Justice.
  • Dr. Maryanne Bednar and Dr. Jack Sweeder have jointly authored an article entitled "Defining and applying idea technologies: A systematic, conceptual framework for teachers" in the journal Computers in the Schools.
  • Drs. Ling Liang and Greer Richardson recently presented at the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) which was held in Dallas,TX from April 4-7, 2005. Their presentation was on the topic of: "The Use of Inquiry in the Development of Preservice Teacher Efficacy in Mathematics and Science."
  • Dr. Greer Richardson and Ms. Donna Wake have received a Verizon Foundation cash grant in the amount of $25,000. The funds will be used for technology integration in schools, in the Education department, and with inservice teachers.
