The Graduate Education Program and the Math/Science Partnership of Greater Philadelphia (MSPGP) have announced that they will be offering the East Coast Modeling Physics and Chemistry Institute this summer. The modeling institute, piloted in summer 2007 under the leadership of Dr. Ling Liang, Associate Professor of Education, provides training on modeling instruction for physics/chemistry teachers in the Philadelphia area. Initiated at Arizona State University and recognized as exemplary by the U.S. Department of Education, this program has been implemented in classrooms throughout the country where it has been shown to produce dramatic improvements in student learning.

Twenty-two teachers successfully completed the training last summer at La Salle, and eight teachers were awarded graduate credits.
