MYTH: They all become teachers, writers, or taxi drivers.

FACT: They become mayors, company presidents, T.V. producers, physicians, chief executive officers, magazine editors, attorneys, regional managers, battalion commanders, journalists, senior consultants, and other highly successful professionals who use the training gained as English majors to analyze, interpret, organize and express ideas.

For example, English major Jim Hart, '85, was recently the subject of a feature article in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Hailed as one of the 100 best personal trainers in the country by Men's Magazine, Jim specializes in personal training for men over 40 at Philadelphia's 12th Street Gym, previously had a career as a catering chef, and is the author of several books that combine healthy eating advice (and recipes) with programs for personal fitness.
