A recent donation to the Wister Family Special Collection of Connelly Library shows that Howe visited Peale House, now part of La Salle's campus, on November 20, 1896. On that dateshesigned a visitor's table cloth at Peale House.
According to James Butler, professor of English and curator of the Wister Collection, the recently donated table cloth was signed between 1893 and 1904 by about two hundred vistors to Peale House, many of local and national significance (such as Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" who visited on October 5, 1894.
