Writer Gary Fincke to Read Thursday, April 5
Fiction writer, poet, and essayist, Gary Fincke will be reading from his work on Thursday, April 5, at 12:30 p.m. in the Renaissance Room of the La Salle University Art Museum. Fincke has published sixteen books of poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction, most recently Standing Around the Heart (poetry); Sorry I Worried You, which was awarded the 2003 Flannery O’Connor Prize for Short Fiction; and Amp’d: A Father’s Backstage Pass, a nonfiction account of his son’s life as a rock guitarist in the band Breaking Benjamin. His next book, The Canals of Mars: A Memoir, will be published later this year. Winner of two Pushcart Prizes, the Bess Hokin Prize from Poetry magazine, and the Rose Lefcowitz Prize from Poet Lore, Fincke’s poems, stories, and essays have appeared in such periodicals as Harper’s, Newsday, The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review, The Georgia Review, American Scholar, and Doubletake. He is a Professor of English and Creative Writing at Susquehanna University, where he also serves as the Director of The Writers Institute.
