History Professor John Rossi will discuss his new book, "The 1964 Phillies: Baseball's Most Memorable Collapse" at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Jenkintown on Wed. Sept. 28 at 7:30 pm. The store is at 835 Old York Road. The talk is free.
The 1964 Phillies were leading the National League by 6.5 games with 12 to play (World Series tickets were printed and mailed to fans), when the team lost 10 straight games -- and the pennant. Some say the city's sports psyche never recovered.
