Desnoyers Chairs Panel at AHA
Dr. Charles Desnoyers, Chair of the History Department and Interim Chair of Political Science, organized, chaired, and presented a paper for a panel called "Contested Identities and Cultural Imperialisms" at the 121st annual meeting of the American Historical Association (AHA) January 4-7 in Atlanta. The AHA is the oldest and largest professional organization in the United States and is the flagship organization for most historians working in the U.S. In addition to Dr. Desnoyers' paper, "Ethnicity, Identity, and Identification: The Case of Yung Wing," the other offerings included John Van Sant [University of Alabama], "FromHikozo Hamada to Joseph Heco," Par Cassel [Harvard and University of Michigan], "Chinese Extraterritoriality in the Treaty Ports," Clayton Brown [University of Pittsburgh], "Choosing the Bear's Palm, the dilemma of a chinese Scientist," and included Grace Ai-ling Chou [Lingnan University, Hong Kong] as discussant.
