On October 13, Dr. George B. Stow, Professor of History, gave a presentation to the Baronial Order of Magna Charta (BOMC) at the Corinthian Yacht Club on the Delaware River. This presentation, entitled "England in the 14th Century: Crisis and Creativity," according to Stow,“challenged the received view of England in the 14th century as just too awful to comprehend, what with the scourge of the Black Death, the outbreak of the Hundred Years' War, and the problems suffered by the Church during the period the Avignonese papacy and resultant Great Schism.” The BOMC is an organization established in 1898 that supports concepts found in the Magna Charta.
