Allied Health Advisement

The term “allied health” includes health professions other than physician, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, diagnostic imaging and nursing.  At La Salle, we have allied health majors in nursing, nutrition, health studies, and speech-language-hearing science offered in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.  What La Salle can provide for other allied health fields, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, or physician assistant, are the courses that fulfill the admissions requirements for most of those allied health programs at other schools.  A pre-allied health student has an academic advisor in their major plus a pre-allied health advisor, who will insure that the student knows what courses are required for admission to allied health programs.  A pre-allied health student can major in any discipline in which they are interested; they cannot major in allied health except in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.  If you are interested in nursing, nutrition, health studies, or speech-language-hearing science contact our School of Nursing.

La Salle is one of more than twenty schools in the area that is an agreement school with Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.  That means that TJU has agreed that if a student takes specified courses at La Salle, those courses fulfill TJU’s admission requirements. click here.  If you know the allied health program in which you are interested, you might check out TJU’s PACE (Plan A College Education) program.  TJU accepts students in their senior year of high school into one of their allied health programs (except physical therapy), then the student spends two years at a college/university such as La Salle taking the admission requirements.  At the end of their sophomore year, they transfer to TJU and do not have to reapply to TJU as long as they have maintained satisfactory grades.  For more information about the PACE program click here.
