Diana P.F. Montague
Associate Professor, Department of Psychology

Dr. Diana Montague is an Associate Professor of Psychology at La Salle University. She received her B. A. degree in Psychology from Rider College (now Rider University) in 1991 and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Developmental and Social Psychology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Her dissertation focused on infants’ understanding of their parents’ and others’ emotion expressions. Dr. Montague is a lifespan developmentalist, and for her post-doctoral fellowship at Long Island University, she studied emotion development in older adults (70+ years) from ethnically and economically diverse communities. At La Salle, she leads an emotion research group to develop research ideas and support the implementation of various studies in emotion and empathy in children, adolescents, and young adults. Professionally, she is on the Executive Committee of the International Society for Research in Emotion. She was inducted into the Rider University Science Stairway of Fame in 2010. She is active as a community volunteer and as an invited speaker-educator for parent groups and teachers.
Dr. Montague loves to spend time with her husband, three children, daughter-in-law, and little grandson. She resides in central New Jersey, not far from her Italian-American parents and 8 siblings.
