Research Interests:
Further development of the Family Building Projective Technique (FBPT; Tonrey, 2001), which is an interactive projective technique utilizing a systems approach to therapeutic practice. Research evidence indicates an increase in Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) clients’ willingness to discuss family issues in group sessions, a reduction in tension with regard to family issues, and an increase in client awareness and participation. Research data indicates that clients’ project their own family-of-origin issues and constructs, which therefore indicates that FBPT is a therapeutic intervention which assists PHP clients to process through family issues in an effective and non-threatening manner.
