On Oct. 27, Joan Sadoff, MSW, received the first Heart of Gold award given by the La Salle's Social Work Program and presented by Brother President Michael J. McGinniss, F.S.C., Ph.D. on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of accredited social work education at La Salle. Ms. Sadoff was honored for her continuing contribution to the social work profession and to La Salle's Social Work Program.
She is a co-producer, along with her husband, Dr. Robert Sadoff, of the award-winning film Standing on My Sisters' Shoulders, which depicts the role of women in the civil rights movement in Mississippi. She is a member of
La Salle's Social Work Advisory Board and has been instrumental in bringing a number of eminent speakers to campus including Lorene Carey and Dr. Dan Gottlieb. Ms. Sadoff, of whom it has been said, already has a heart of gold, but now she has been recognized publicly with the Heart of Gold award.
